Most opener problems are fixable—and usually faster than you'd expect. Whether it's stripped gears, misaligned sensors, a dead circuit board, or just remote programming, we diagnose accurately and repair efficiently.
We service most major brands and all opener types. Every repair includes testing the entire system to make sure your door operates safely and reliably.
Not sure what's wrong? Use our free DoorDiagnosis™ tool to walk through common symptoms. It helps identify whether the issue is your opener, springs, sensors, or something else—in under 60 seconds.
Stripped Gears (Most Common Repair)
The motor runs but the door doesn't move. You hear humming or grinding, and sometimes see white plastic dust under the opener.
This happens when the main drive gear wears out—usually after 10-15 years of use. We replace the gear assembly, lubricate the system,
and test everything to make sure it operates smoothly.
Sensor Alignment Issues
The door won't close and the opener light blinks. Your photo eye sensors (the small units near the floor on each side of the door)
need to "see" each other for the door to close. If they're misaligned, dirty, or have a loose wire, the door won't close for safety reasons.
We realign, clean, or replace sensors as needed.
Remote & Keypad Programming
Lost your remote, bought a new one, or need to program a keypad or car's HomeLink system? We program all types of remotes and access devices.
Can also erase old remotes if you're concerned about security (previous owners, lost remotes, etc.).
Circuit Board Failure
The opener works intermittently, doesn't respond to remotes, or has erratic behavior (opens on its own, stops randomly).
The circuit board (logic board) controls all opener functions. When it fails, behavior becomes unpredictable. We replace the board
and reprogram all remotes and settings.
Broken Trolley or Carriage
The trolley is the piece that connects the opener arm to the door. If it's broken or disconnected, the motor runs but nothing moves.
Common on older units or after someone pulled the emergency release and forced the door. We replace the trolley assembly and reconnect everything properly.
Capacitor Failure
The motor hums but won't start, or starts very slowly and lacks power. The capacitor gives the motor the electrical "kick" it needs to start.
When it fails, the motor struggles. We replace the capacitor and test motor performance.
Limit Switch Problems
The door only opens partway and stops, or it runs past the fully open/closed position. Limit switches tell the opener when to stop.
If they're out of adjustment or faulty, the door won't open/close completely. We adjust or replace limit switches to restore proper travel.
Wiring & Connection Issues
Intermittent operation, remote works sometimes but not always, or wall button doesn't respond. Loose or damaged wires cause unpredictable behavior.
We trace wiring, fix connections, and replace damaged wire runs as needed.

Replacement makes more sense when:
We'll give you the honest recommendation. If your opener is on its last legs, we'll tell you. If a simple repair will give you another 5-10 years, we'll tell you that too. No upselling, no pressure—just the facts.

Diagnose The Problem NowCommon signs include the opener motor running but the door not moving, grinding or clicking noises from the motor, door reversing immediately after trying to close, remote or wall button not responding, or the opener working intermittently. If your opener is making unusual sounds or behaving unpredictably, it likely needs professional diagnosis and repair. Our free DoorDiagnosis™ tool can help you identify the issue in under 60 seconds.
This is usually caused by stripped gears inside the opener. The motor runs and you hear it humming or grinding (sometimes with a white plastic dust appearing under the unit), but the gear that connects the motor to the drive mechanism is broken or worn out. This is one of the most common opener repairs and is typically fixed by replacing the gear assembly.
If the opener light blinks and the door reverses when you try to close it, the photo eye sensors are likely misaligned or blocked. These sensors are mounted on either side of the door near the floor and must "see" each other for the door to close. Check for obstructions, dirt on the sensor lens, or sensors that have been bumped out of alignment. If the sensors look clear and aligned, the issue might be a faulty sensor, loose wiring, or a circuit board problem requiring professional repair.
If your opener is less than 10 years old and the repair is relatively minor, repair makes sense. If your opener is 10+ years old, has had multiple failures, or the motor itself is dead, replacement is usually the smarter choice. Older openers lack modern safety features like automatic reversal and photo eye sensors, and they don't have smart capabilities like smartphone control. We'll give you an honest assessment and let you make the decision.
